Lime Wire Launches MagnetMix; New content portal offers authorized music, eBooks, literature, games, shareware, and video
Lime Wire LLC, (www.limewire.com), a leading designer and developer of advanced P2P file sharing software that runs on the Gnutella Network, today announced a new addition to its offerings, the MagnetMix content portal. MagnetMix allows authorized content such as music, eBooks, literature, games and video to be easily downloaded at no additional charge. LimeWire has the rights to distribute all the files available on the site. In order to use magnet links, a user must have a magnet enabled Gnutella Client like LimeWire installed on their computer with an Internet connection. With one simple click on a magnet link on the portal site, the user's LimeWire will open and attempt to retrieve the file from the specified web location as well as utilize the download mesh to find alternate locations for the file. This method of content delivery saves the distributor bandwidth costs and ensures the availability of popular content on the network.
"In an age where digital piracy is a concern for both users and file-sharing companies, Lime Wire's Magnet Mix introduces a way to download authorized content available on the Gnutella network," said Greg Bildson, Chief Operating Officer of Lime Wire. "Now users can legally download anything from Shakespeare's major works to the America's Army(TM) video game."
