Adobe: Solution Coming for Recent PDF Problems

Adobe says a patch is in the works for a recent JavaScript vulnerability in the PDF platform. The patch is expected to be available by May 12th.

“We are in the process of fixing the issue, and expect to make available product updates for the relevant supported Adobe Reader and Acrobat versions and platforms by May 12th, 2009.” Adobe reported.

The vulnerability is caused by a JavaScript error that leads to malicious code execution on systems running Acrobat or Reader software. The problem exists on all versions of Acrobat and Acrobat Reader on all platforms.

It has been recommended by Adobe that users disable Javascript in the affected software until the patch is released.
