FrameMaker 7.1 shipped this week, adding some features under the umbrella of “Conditional Text” that should make repurposing content a little easier: In effect several versions of one document can be stored in a single XML file, and whichever version is needed can be output to PDF on demand.
Other new features in this version include enhanced SVG support, as well as updated import capabilities for files from other layout applications including QuarkXPress and PageMaker.
"Corporate publishers want to take advantage of the latest and greatest technologies like XML to help them expand their businesses, " says Jim Heeger, senior vice president of Creative Professional Products at Adobe. "FrameMaker 7.1 adds superior XML handling and management features and unparalleled integration with other industry leading Adobe products giving customers a leg up by accelerating their workflows."
